Pango is useful in conjunction with gettext. While gettext takes care of
translating the text, Pango provides GTK+ programs with support for displaying
and inputting of text in languages which don't follow the left-to-right,
top-to-bottom order of the Latin-1 languages. Traditionally, this i18n
support places great burdens on the X programmer. Hopefully, Pango will make
this i18n support easy enough to add that it will become widespread.
