Which version of the kernel are you using? There was something on
Kernel Traffic about StarOffice's Java component dying on upgrade
to a newer kernel - possibly 2.2.13. I can't find a reference to it
right now, but you might want to try running 2.2.12.
FWIW, I'm using jdk1.1 version 1.1.7v3-2 on 2.2.13 and all my Java
development stuff works perfectly well.
