kbd and mc in slink
at home I had a out of date unstable Slink system before I updated
it last weekend with fresh Slink CDs.
It didn't run as smooth as I expected :-(.
One problem seemed to be the kbd package. Formerly I had a
working mc on the linux console. After upgrading I didn't got
the function keys F11-F20 working (mainly F14 to edit a new file).
Also "Learn keys" didn't help :-(.
Fiddling around with this problem I detected, I detected the reason
for an old annoying situation: In a xterm "F4" = "Edit File"
presented me a blank screen instead of the file to edit. Now I
found out, that the keys F3-F8 in a xterm (xterm-debian) are
interpreted as F13-F18. "Learn keys" didn't work also in this
case. This is really strange, because my installation in the
university via apt has the problem only with F3 and F4 (they work
like F13 and F14) but F5-F8 work well.
Is there anybody who can explain that?
