If your internet connection is inside .ac.uk, then definitely use sunsite.
The intra-JANET bandwidth is superb (from cambridge, I get 400KB/sec to
sunsite).  The mirror is up-to-date  (should never lag more than 24 hours
behind www.uk), and also, it supports http (smae URL, just change the ftp
to http).

I use sunsite during term-time, and www.uk in the holidays (when my
internet connection is via a convential UK ISP, you peer at LINX).
