I did not planned to put them back. Did you planned to put them back? ;-)
We are in the deep freeze and there have not been any serious complaint
from any user about this (even more, some users do even like the fact that
these symlinks are removed).
Really: If a package breaks without these symlinks being present in
Debian, then the package is already broken by Linux standards. Do we have
to support broken software? I think we don't have.
