Libc6 progress: 1997-11-23
This is a list of packages in the main distribution that need work to
be fully libc6-based. I base it on the Packages file at my local mirror,
so it may be a day or two out of date. If you have questions about why
a particular package is on the list, or if you think there is an error,
don't hesitate to contact me.
I have seen a number of duplicate non-maintainer uploads, i.e. two for
the same package, by different people. Save yourself some work and
check Incoming before you start, or keep an eye on
debian-devel-changes :-)
Packages gettyps, umsdos, and unarj have been orphaned.
Packages apple2, cbb, cfingerd, csh, eperl, emacspeak, ftape-2.0.30,
gnuplot, joe, libsocks4, netmaze, nvi, perl-tk, pixmap, psutils, rc,
redir, s3mod, sgml-tools, sp, tkinfo, and xmix were upgraded since the last
time I posted this list. That leaves 169 packages in the list, with
12 upgrades on the way.
There were two steps back: something went wrong with sox, and now it
depends on libc5 (>= 5.4.0.0). My archives don't go back far enough
to find an earlier libc5 version of sox so I'm guessing it was one of
those packages which lacked a shlibs dependencies entirely. (It
wasn't in my list before.)
The security-fix upload for xvmount (3.6-5) has overwritten the
non-maintainer releases by Martin Mitchell (3.6-4.1 and 3.6-4.2), so
it's libc5-based again.
