It would be even nicer if this would allow me to remove the mouse
questions from the xf86config program in Debian. We could have gpm used as
the mouse server as standard and confine mouse configuration options to
one place.
The X server packages would have to depend on gpm, of course, but unless
there are mice that X supports and gpm doesn't I don't think this is a
problem.
The only other disadvantage I can see is that every mouse movement will
cause extra context switches between gpm and the X server, but I doubt
that this will be noticeable in practice.
