SCHEDULING TALKS FOR DEBCONF 5 In order to make the schedule for this year's Debconf, we're trying something slightly new, which will hopefully work out. To reduce the likelihood that two talks that you really wish to attend are scheduled for the exact same time, you all get to vote on the talks that you wish to attend. The scheduler will then attempt to minimize the conflicts between talks, so as many people as possible are able to attend the talks they want to attend. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU If you want your preferences for talks to be taken into account while making the schedule, you need to vote for the talks that you want to attend. To vote, visit: http://comas.linux-aktivaattori.org/debconf5/attendees/account/voting/ log in, and assign a number to each talk. Give a large number to talks that you're more interested in, smaller numbers to talks you're less interested in, and 0 to talks you don't plan on attending. The voting page has more information as well. If you have questions about the voting, feel free to contact myself, don@debian.org. PLEASE VOTE EARLY[1] While a firm date for the schedule's release hasn't been given, you should have voted before 0000 June 25th UTC if you expect your preferences to be taken into account. [In the time it took you to read this sentence, you could have voted already.] Don Armstrong 1: AND VOTE OFTEN -- The game of science is, in principle, without end. He who decides one day that scientific statements do not call for any further test, and that they can be regarded as finally verified, retires from the game. -- Sir Karl Popper _The Logic of Scientific Discovery_ §11 http://www.donarmstrong.com http://rzlab.ucr.edu
