Hi Everyone, Well I'm hoping to get rid of automake1.5. It's buggy, unsupported upstream, and 1.6 and 1.7 can generally work with Makefile.am's written for 1.5. We already have automake1.4, automake1.5, automake1.6 and automake1.7. I'd like to get rid of automake1.5 before automake1.8 comes out. "So what do I need to do", do you ask? Well I need to get all the packages that Build-Depend against automake1.5 to remove that dependency. I'm of the opinion that no package should build-depend on any automake package. They should run automake on the source tree and pack that with the .diff.gz. But if you still want to use automake in the build process, please make it work with automake1.7.
