Hi,

Second, I get the following error when running JavaICQ:

Yup. I confirm that the entire JDK stuff is quite broken. This
becomes a problem being that I have an incoming deadline for java code.

I'm trying to downgrade to libc6 from slink. I'm getting the
following errors :

[seth@mycroft] sudo dpkg -i libc6_2.0.7.19981211-6.deb

Preparing to replace libc6 2.1.1-0pre1 (using libc6_2.0.7.19981211-6.deb)

You should be thankful that it didn't let you downgrade or it would have hosed your system. Downgrade ncurses and libreadline and sysvinit and ldso first or you will break your system.
