New Release Manager / VP-Engineering

I just wanted to clear up a few things...

Several people have asked me who wrote the quoted text in my mail.
The message to which I was replying was written by Guy Maor, master
of the ftp archive.

Many thanks to all the people who wrote me to show support and thank me
for the work I have done. It is nice to be appreciated.

Wichert has asked me to stay on until Slink is out the door. Since that
should happen early next week, I've agreed. After that, though, I'm
leaving. I try to say what I mean and mean what I say... I said I was
quitting the "release manager" position and so I will.

Truth be told, I'm not sorry about leaving. I'm tired of abuse
from people who don't like the fact that their package was rejected
from "frozen" and the inability of the archive maintainer to do the
major jobs (like freezing) within a reasonable time or even when he
said he'd have it done by. The job is no longer any fun for me and
thus I won't do as good of a job as I would do otherwise.

Richard Braakman <dark@xs4all.nl> has expressed interest in taking over
the position and I support him for that role. I have worked with him
in the past and think he would be good at the job.
