elinks on sid has a dependency on xlibs, for example, which is IMO bad
for a text-only browser. One probable reason for using a text-only
browser is that X libraries are not wanted on the target system
(#218453, #178038). But, however, the solution to #178038 will
probably be an elinks so severely crippled that not even https will be
possible with that elinks, not solving the problem at all.
