You miss the point. The point that's being contested is not which
techincal thins should happen right here, but whether Enrico has a
right to *wish* for them to happen.

Nobody is disagreeing with that. Everyone agrees that the ifupdown
package decides what can be used. Nobody wants to change that. But
even so, one can still have opinons about *what* it should decide.
That is a different thing from not recognizing that you are the one
who decides.
