Not much can be done really other than waiting for new releases of free
JVMs which work with more Java applications. It may be possible at the
moment  to move a few applications to main (such as ant), but in most 
cases would take considerable effort to make them use free jvms and
libraries (and then test them). 

There is no big transition which should concern the sarge release, just
regular improvements.
