Before I forget, you probably still have older PK files in your TEXMF
tree, so you'll have to remove them.  (Remember MakeTeXPK making
dozens of subfonts when viewing a DVI file with xdvi?)

rm -rf /var/cache/fonts/pk/modeless/arphic/

At least, that's why I think you still have encounter some problems.
When you're back at your computer with TeX, please send me the error
report.
