安裝的問題？？？¡]newbie提問¡^

我是一個newbie。非常喜歡linux，現在想在我的計算機裡安裝一個debian。主要想用來作開發用途。但是，現在搞了快一個月了，還是沒有完全成功。現在主要的問題是圖形系統：xwindows和gnome。
我安裝了一個最小的系統。並升級到unstable，內核是2.4.14。其他的安裝gcc，emacs等都可以成功，但是當我安裝了一個xwindows的時候，卻總是無法配置成功。即使配置成功了，也只能顯示8色的color。gnome就更加不用說了。搞得現在很煩，裝什麼軟件包都不知道了。
請各位指點。如果有什麼debian下安裝x的文檔資料，FAQ等等請提供給我。我在這裡先拜謝了。
