update kernel-image

            Hi debian-cd,

I had a debian 2.2r3 i386 installed and updated to 2.2r5 and 2.2r6

(no problems, debian upgrading is amazing !)

I wanted to change also the kernel

So from cd 1_NONUS I typed apt-get install kernel-image-2.2.19 (or something ...)

Everything seemed OK

/vmlinuz -> /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.19

/vmlinuz.old -> /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.19pre17

booting from lilo for both new and old kernels is OK. (lilo fine thanks ; dmesg stored in files lilo1 and lilo2)

booting from cd 1 2.2r3 (and type rescue root=/dev/sda2 vga=6) is OK (file dmesg_cd1_2.2r3)

booting from cd 1_NONUS 2.2r6 (and type rescue root=/dev/sda2 vga=6) is not OK (file dmesg_cd1_2.2r6)

lots of messages kind :

insmod: /lib/modules/2.2.19/misc/unix.o: insmod net-pf-1 failed

depmod: *** unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.2.19/usb/* (15 lines following ...)

depmod: /ntfs.0

I checked dmesg files

and it seems version dates are differents for this new kernel ;

so, what’s goes wrong ? is it the proper kernel ? what must I do ? mayday !

thank you

M.B.
