Bug#673450: debian-installer-launcher: Uses xterm even if --text specified
Package: debian-installer-launcher
Version: 10
Severity: normal
I built a Live CD that includes X, but the
defaults in inittab of my Live CD
does not start X, just tty's. If I run /usr/sbin/debian-installer-launcher,
with or without --text, I get the errors:
xterm Xt error: Can't open display: %s
xterm: DISPLAY is not set
I notice that /usr/share/debian-installer-launcher/plugins/live contains
the folling, at line 44, execute when --text is present:
DI_FRONTEND=newt
export DI_FRONTEND
But that varible is not used again. Elsewhere I see setting and using of
variable DEBIAN_FRONTEND. If I change lines 44 and 45 from DI_ to DEBIAN_
AND I remove /live/image/install/gtk/initrd.gz from the list of images
searched in line 54, then the installer launches in text mode.
