Comments/Problems:
Smooth install. Kudos!

* Thanks for the "standard install" item in tasksel.
Life is suddenly less confusing with this option explicitly in the list.
Could this item be moved to the top of the tasksel menu?

* The ide-generic module insisted on probing for /dev/hda and /dev/hdb,
even though there were SCSI disks to be had.
It does this when the installer modprobes the module, and during the
post-install reboot.
This is a minor complaint, the system eventually found the SCSI disks
and did the Right Thing.

* apt-get complained it could not find Release or Packages files at security.d.o.
The box has access to that website, so presumably security support is still
getting sorted out. Specifically, it could not find
  dists/testing/updates/Release
  dists/testing/main/binary-amd64/Packages
  dists/testing/updates/main/Packages
(or maybe the .gz versions of the same)

* This machine had FreeBSD installed on sda, I installed to sdb.
Grub-install installed to '(hd0)', and did not detect the FreeBSD install.
It did set up the correct entries for the debian install in /boot/grub/menu.lst

this report can be closed.
 * it relates to an ancient version of the installer
 * the probing for /dev/hd{a,b} was probably the correct thing to do
 * the grub-install issue is still there - ie grub-install doesn't
seem to give you a list of disks so you can select which disk
to install to. However the details of how this should be handled
will have changed now that grub2 has come along.
