Comments/Problems:

I would like to install my Debian system into an encrypted root.
This is the partition scheme:
- hdb1: 128 MiB, ext2, /boot
- hdb2: 2 GiB, swap
- hdb3: remaining GiBs, dm-crypt/luks with inside the root partition
formatted as ext3.
The debian installer of Lenny refuses to use the encrypted partitions
as / and so it's impossible to continue with installation.
No problems with the installer of Etch.
See attached images for more details.

You need to use the "Configure encrypted volumes" before going to the
"Finish partitioning" step.

Doing so will indeed tell you that your swap area is not encrypted and
this is not safe..:-)
