Fwd: Re: Bug#474651: debootstrap: W: Failure trying to run: chroot /sid

No answer since 2 weeks, still not solved, but will be archived in 17
days,

Is anybody working on this or just ignoring me?

Or are you working on (more) important bugs that are open since over 2
years?

I am disapointed. I want to help, finding errors and all I get is a
short note, that "something" is wrong. Please be serious, reopen the
report, it is not solved. Did you try it yourself? Tell me what infos
do you need?

It is reproducable and it's just whith:
$ fakeroot -s fakechroot.save \
fakechroot /usr/sbin/debootstrap --variant=fakechroot \
sid /sid http://ftp.ch.debian.org/debian/

It works (under rooot) with:
 - # debootstrap sid /sid http://ftp.ch.debian.org/debian/
 - # debootstrap --variant=minbase sid /sid
http://ftp.ch.debian.org/debian/
 - # debootstrap --variant=buildd sid /sid
http://ftp.ch.debian.org/debian/

(so it's not a sid-problem or a target problem).

I also tried it to start fakeroot under root:
 - # fakechroot /usr/sbin/debootstrap --variant=fakechroot sid /sid
http://ftp.ch.debian.org/debian/

The process aborted with the same message.
I also chrooted into it and entered the command:
$ sudo chroot /sid
# dpkg --force-depends --install
var/cache/apt/archives/base-files_4.0.3_i386.deb
var/cache/apt/archives/base-passwd_3.5.17_i386.deb
