Package: debian-installer
Version: 20061102

[ I'm not sure this is the right package, please reassign as appropriate ].

In sarge, the user had the choice of adding a security.debian.org line
to /etc/apt/sources.list or not.

This seems to be no longer the case in etch, not even in expert mode.
I think this is a step backwards in flexibility.

Just because an ethernet card was detected does not mean the system
is in the same net as security.debian.org (i.e. the Internet).

Please add a question so that (at least in expert mode), the user
is asked whether or not he/she wants a security.debian.org line
in sources.list. It would not matter if the line is added anyway
in commented out form if the user answer "no", but it's important
that a connection to Internet is not forced, because if it fails,
(and sometimes the user knows that it will fail) the user will lose
his valuable time while the system is trying to connect to an
unreachable site.

In my case, I know there is a buggy router somewhere between my
system and security.debian.org, and I know the connection will fail
unless I fiddle with some network options in /proc/sys/net/ipv4.
More about this in another bug report.

Thanks.

   * Remove old isinstallable file that was for sarge, we don't support sarge
     installs anymore.
   * Add support for updates from volatile.debian.org.
   * Allow the user to select whether to add security and/or volatile updates.
The question is only asked at medium or low priority. Closes: #401432.
   * For CD installs, ask more selectively whether to use a mirror or not. The
question is still mostly asked as even on DVDs some packages belonging to
tasks may be missing on the first image.
     - businesscard: mirror will always be used
     - netinst: default to true, ask only at medium priority
     - full CD: default to true, ask at high priority
     - DVD: default to false, ask at high priority
An explanation is displayed that is tailored to the type of CD image.
   * Disable netinst CD image in sources.list in target before reboot if other
     sources are present. Closes: #379067.
