Bug#423634: installation and bug report

Quoting Mal Phillips (southpix@googlemail.com):

OK. So apparently, the problem comes because the PCMCIA card services
do not start on the installed system.

If you still have one of such installed system, it would be
interesting to check which packages are installed. Maybe could you
install a minimal system with the Debian "etch" CD's on a small
partition of the machine (about 300MB is enough, IIRC).

If you want Debian etch on that machine, I suggest you currently
install Debian 3.0 (is 3.1 aka "sarge" working?), then upgrade it
first to sarge, then to etch by reading those versions' release notes.

But, again, it's probably worth investigating that "PCMCIA card
doesn't work after reboot" problem.

Frans, any other suyggestion we could make?
