Package: debian-installer-manual Severity: wishlist Hi! It's not clear to me how to get the source for the Debian Installation Guide. At the Debian Documentation Project page[1], there's a Subversion command line that will probably checkout the latest development version (right?). This seems OK. But the published version for the stable release[2] does not tell any method to get source for that version. I think it should made easy to get the source for the published version of the guide, ideally with a link to a good (gzipped or bzipped2) tar archive of the complete source. I tried to browse through the WebSVN interface, but I quickly got lost... :-( After some failed tries, I figured out that I could get the source package of debian-installer-manual (sarge version), but it's not really clear to me whether this is the same exact version as the one "published for the stable release"[2]... Is it the same? In any case, I think that a good link in the webpage[2] would really make things easier (especially for users that lack enough familiarity with Debian). Can we have this fixed for the next stable release (etch), please? Thanks for your attention. For the Sarge version: apt-get source debian-installer For the Etch version: apt-get source installation-guide In both cases you could have found out by looking at the packages.debian.org website as that lists which source package each normal package belongs to. http://packages.debian.org/stable/devel/debian-installer-manual http://packages.debian.org/testing/doc/installation-guide-i386 The source for an uploaded version of the installation guide is also always "tagged" in the d-i SVN repository. For the Sarge version the manual was part of uploads of debian-installer itself. Cheers, FJPAttachment: pgpZhpGorXEee.pgp
