Fortunately, the fix for the issues reported by users have been included.
Unfortunately, the major improvements haven't been included.

I agree and understand your position. Unfortunately it has been outside
my power to speed it up (Marco was the only person who could have done
it by a faster upload).
I also agree that is _undesirable_ at the _current_ state of the
ppp-udeb to include it by default since:
- it didn't got enough testing
- it included a changes that supersedes netcfg's priority when is
loaded (on the reasoning that that main served scenario is now
installation via the most common type pppoe - pppoe used with an
unconfigured Ethernet interface and there is no reason to try DHCP for
this scenario)
- in order to have include by default, ppp-udeb should be loaded by
netcfg via the dedicated menu entry from netcfg, and such logic does not
exist now, or is not enabled/configured for ppp-udeb (I will look at
this later, in any case, this is an etch+1 issue)

I would prefer some testing with the latest version (either the one
released by Marco or the one with the major fixes) first. Probably is
best to make a call for tests of this feature?
