Custom netinst Problem - "some modules are in more than one package"

I am seeking assistance from this list.  debuild -us -uc fails with:

kernel-wedge find-dups 2.6.17-386
some modules are in more than one package
debian/serial-modules-2.6.17-386-di 
lib/modules/2.6.17-386/kernel/drivers/base/firmware_class.ko
debian/firmware-modules-2.6.17-386-di 
lib/modules/2.6.17-386/kernel/drivers/base/firmware_class.ko

dpkg-buildpackage failed!

This intended result is a sarge netinst disk with a current kernel.  Using:

linux-kernel-di  2.6_1.02 and
kernel-wedge    1.25.1
stock Linux 2.6.17 source

Should I be using di and wedge packages from unstable?
