Should we really workaround that (theoretical) bug? I dunno, what if the disk the volume is on is in the process of dying and you're installing to another one? Or the volume just doesn't work with debian's version of lvm. It might be theoretical, but avoiding accessing preexisting data w/o the user asking for it seems reasonable for d-i. I don't have strong feelings about this though.. -- see shy jo
