I believe its problem may be related to partman-prep, as this is the same
problem causing yaboot trouble on the same hardware with 32bit userland (but
64bit kernel). Fixing this was on my TODO list, so i guess its up to you to
fix it or find a volunteer for doing it. Good luck to you.

libparted itself is 64bit clean, and should know how to handle those partition
tables. Bastian would have noticed if not.
