3.02.19 still used the unified driver, aiui, so you could try
backporting that (in other words, mptscsih finds the device - no mptsas
exists). You can probably find it on LSI Logic's website. A coworker
backported it to 2.6.8 - i think just by replacing the existing files
with the new ones - and its working fine for me.

affects it.
