Installation fails

Hello

I´m sorry for my bad english, just wanted to tell you at the beginning...

I tried installing Debian 3.1r0a on my Acer Extensa 3000. The Bios is programmed very bad, even under windows, i cannot throttle the spu right etc... Suse and also redhat worked well on this notebook, but i had to throttle the cpu because it ran on 1600 Mhz (it is a 1400)...

But now on debian, after the basic-system is installed and the reboot is done, the system hangs when initializing usb. i think its because the bad bios, but how can i tell the kernel at boottime that it does not use usb? there is no option in the phoenix-bios, and also no newer version available...

Thanks

Jens Weiner
