Hmm, no idea what ALi is like for support in linux.  I stick with VIA
for the most part, although I have a few nvidia boards working well too.

Not too unusual for many brand new boards.

Also common.  Often a newer kernel is needed if the chipset is very new.

Well I imagine it will be great when the next stable release of sarge
comes out in 2 or 3 years. :)

Or you can look for a backport of 2.6.12 for sarge and see if that
solves things for sound and networking.  Often it does.

Another thing to try would be to boot the DVD with 'linux26' option to
get the 2.6.8 kernel instead of 2.4.27 since I just noticed you booted
with the much older default kernel.
