Comments/Problems:
Install base system aborded with debootstrap errors:
- a long list of packets was not found like: apt-utils, base-config, etc. (about 20), in the very beginning of the base-installation process.
- the logfile for debootstrap was said to be in /target/var/log but this directory doesn't even exist at that state of the installation (only /target/var/lib was found with some contents but not the logfile)
- I suspect a problem with the mirror or the connection to the mirror, but couldn't find the URL definition files for it (thought I'd find and change it in /etc/apt/ but that dir doesn't exist ...); anyhow, wget to other URLs on console 2 work fine ... hm.
=> I am not able to install Debian right now on my system :-(
Note: I also tried to run debootstrap from the KNOPPIX CD Linux system:
debootstrap --arch i386 etch /mnt/sda10 ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/Linux/debian/, but it stops in the middle of the process with the error that it cannot retrieve some libraries, report can be sent if requested.
Best regards,
Stefan.
