Some general tips:
- check on VT2 that the required usb modules are loaded;
  if they're missing, try modprobing them manually
- check in /dev that a directory cdrom is present with a symlink
  to the "real" device for your usb cdrom

Please file an installation report [1] with the results, full info on your 
system and, if possible, the logs for the installation (gzipped).
To get the logs, you can <go back> to the menu and use the "Save debug 
logs" option.
