Thanks for you report. The problems you've encountered have been previously reported as bug #299074 [0], so I am merging this report with it. Note that the fixed libdiscover/discover1 packages are available, however I didn't receive any confirmation that they take care of the problem. If you'll ever manage to finish the installation, it would be very helpful if you could test them. See the last message to bug #299074 for instructions.
