As said, this won't work automaitcally, since there is no way to pres ...

Huh, you have a mirror/udeb/suite ? This must be a new thing, it didn't use to
exist not so long ago.

Then you need to pre-seed mirror/udeb/suite to unstable, since the kernel
module udebs in sarge are those of the rc2 kernel, which is incompatible to
the one currently in sid. Security fixes which caused abi changes are the
issue.
