I am not entirely sure, depends on your motherboard, but i think i remember
that with my asus A8v deluxe, which has the same configuration as you, the PDC
controller was available only in raid volumes and not as normal disk device or
something such, i moved the disk to the via controller for now too, and it
worked.

There is some stuff which would enable the softraid magic to be bios-raid
compatible, but i didn't have time to follow up on it.
