Method: Downloaded image, burned it to CD-RW, rebooted, choosed to install to 
    prepared partition (I am always have small (6G) unused partition), choosed
    "sarge", forced LILO to fail it's install, choosed "grub", rebooted,
    finished base configuration, pointed apt to local woody mirror, installed
    telnetd, pointed apt to "ftp.de.debian.org/debian sarge main" (w/o proxy),
    rebooted to old system (some tricking with grub...), runned new sarge into
    vmware window, continued apt-getting...

Machine: ASUS P2B/P4 1.7/256Mb,/80G SG/18" LCD NEC/3com net

Comments/Problems:

The only problem that I prefer grub over lilo but it was tricky to make
lilo stop from installing. Pointing it to /dev/null doesn't help but
pointing to wrong (absent) partition helped. Overall the install process was
very nice though it is suspictious to have such smart installer. The old
"boot floppies" way was more solid but with d-i I feared that it will erase all
my data and I'll can't help it.

The grub/lilo issue is currently that grub is installed by default. LILO can
be selected in expert mode.
