Was that Greek/Greece? No, I'm using defaults (English language/US country/American English keymap). My keyboard is a "regular" PS/2 keyboard. > We will also need the reason for the failure during the installation > of console-common. Unfortunately this bug is not 100% reproducible. I did the installation again, this time allowing the installer to partition my disk (4.3 GB) automatically, and the installation completed successfully. Then I did another installation, this time manually (from within d-i) creating a 1GB partition, and nothing else (no swap). This is what I've been doing before, since this is just a system on which I'm trying to test RAID modes, so I build small partitions that just hold a base installation. This time the bug appeared, but nothing useful showed up in /var/log/messages as far as console-data is concerned. The only relevant entry I can see is this: Unpacking console-common (from .../console-common_0.7.47_all.deb) ... dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/console-common_0.7.47_all.deb (--unpack): subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 137 I'm appending the entire /var/log/messages file, gzipped (4,5K) FYI. I'd appreciate help on tracking/reproducing the bug. I've now done ~10 installs on the same machine, and the necessary condition for the bug to appear seems to be a small (1GB) root partition and no swap partition. I'm certain I'm not running out of HD space, but could this be triggered by low memory? I should also note that the installation doesn't always die at console-common. At least once, it has died again at 61%, this time displaying the following in VT3: dpkg: error processing console-common (--configure): subprocess post-installation script killed by signal (Killed) Setting up base-config (2.53.4) ... Errors were encountered while processing: exim4-config exim4-base netbase exim4-daemon-light ppp at pppoe exim4 pppoeconf telnet pppconfig mailx console-common I've attached the /var/log/messages from that case as messages1.gz (5,9KB) -A
