Package: debian-installer
Severity: important

the debian-installer allowed me to configure my wireless lan settings
during the initial network setup (before the first boot during the
installation...this step actually worked correctly and the first set of
packages needed for the base system were obtained over my wireless lan). i use a wireless lan with a non-default ssid and wep enabled (a more secure setup than using defaults). this wlan information appears to have been discarded upon the first boot when the network was being brought up. instead, no network connection was initiated. i had to resort to an installation via wired lan.

i think that the standard user should expect that if they set up wlan
settings at one point in time that they well be stored and used
indefinately within their new system (unless that user actually decides
to modify those settings).
