Bug#268792: [m68k] [20041027] [nativehd] Failure turned success with Debian installer on Macintosh Quadra650

Hi,

I just completed the second phase of installation successfully in 3 hours (with all development packages deselected/not installed).

I have 1 remark concerning the use of colour in the "Debian package selection" screen and in aptitude. My Mac only has a black and white display, and both the screen mentioned and aptitude use colours/greyscales that make it hard to figure out what option/line is selected. 1) In the "Debian package selection" screen I could not see which line was selected. So I could not see of which line I was about to activate when pressing space. Also, after pressing space the * would not show up between the rectangular braces "[" and "]" until I pressed the up-arrow key to select another line. I haven't tried making the room real dark as I did with aptitude (see below), so maybe the selection would have been visible if I had.

I used the "manually select package to install" option and was presented with aptitude. 2) In aptitude some lines with package information in the upper part of the screen are be totally black. This seems related to the scrolling of the upper part of the screen. Only after changing the state of the package with "_" or "i" the line would be changed to a visible greyscale combination. Also, when you deselect a package that is depended on by others, you see that some packages are broken in the bottom half of the screen, but the names of the packages you've just broken are not readible due to the dark text and background.

On top of that the progress-meters make the text and background to dark I could only the the text over the progress-meters after turning off the light in the room, and closing the sunscreen (on a non-sunny day!).

Keep up the good work! Erik
