Package: hw-detect
Version: 1.06
Severity: important

I'm using d-i RC1 to install sarge on a Sony Vaio U50, where Windows
detects the HD as being on an "Intel(r) 82801DB Ultra ATA Storage
Controller-24CA".

The first hardware probe ("Detect network hardware" from the d-i
ramdisk) throws a dialog saying that it couldn't load modules for
ide-mod, ide-probe-mod, ide-detect, ide-generic, ide-floppy, ide-disk,
ide-cd and isofs, but does configure the network and download the
installer components over the network.

Perviously (a week or so ago? I'm not sure exactly when it was) the
next "Detect hardware" step after "Load installer components" would
load support for the HD and all was fine. Currently it only offers the
floppy module to load, and then throws a dialog saying -

Linux kernel modules needed to drive some of your hardware are not
available yet. Simply proceeding with the install may make these
   modules available later.

The unavailable modules, and the devices that need them are: ide-mod
(Linux IDE driver), ide-probe-mod (Linux IDE probe driver),
ide-detect (Linux IDE detection), ide-generic (Linux IDE support),
ide-floppy (Linux IDE floppy), ide-disk (Linux ATA Disk), ide-cd
(Linux ATAPI CD-ROM), isofs (Linux ISO 9660 filesystem)

Moving on to the "Partition disks" stage throws a red screen saying

   No partitionable media were found.

Please check that a hard disk is attached to this machine.

at which point the install is over...

never mind, I'm an idiot... the d-i image I'm using has a 2.6.7 kernel
which (obviously) isn't supported by the 2.6.8 modules now in
linux-kernel-di-i386-2.6
