Bug#274961: Debian Installer multiple problems

Package: installation-reports

Debian-installer-version: pre RC2 and current (10/03) tested
uname -a: Didn't get there
Date: 10/03/2004
Method: CD

Machine: dmesg (from older debian) below, not listed are 2 Adaptec ASH-1205SA SATA controllers with 3 250GB maxtor SATA disks
Processor: AMD Athlon 900MHz
Memory: 256MB
Root Device: IDE
Root Size/partition table: n/a
Output of lspci and lspci -n: did not get there...

Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Comments/Problems:

Trying the default kernel, it hangs fairly soon. First it sticks a long time at ide_detect, then it hangs terminally at sd_mod.

Using linux26, installation proceeds well at first. However during the apt configuration (after fixing the known cdrom mountpoint problem) there are problems adding additional sources. No matter if I select ftp or http and no matter what mirror, it hangs here:

	0% [Waiting for headers]

Network connection is fine (checked with other terminal, can ping mirrors), and ftp login works too.

Stuck here, please help!

Gerd
