uname -a: whatever the root kernel image
Date: 08/19/04
Method: floppy installation for boot.img, root.img, net-drivers.img
Network install after that from ftp.us.debian.org or ftp.uk.debian.org

Machine: NEC Ready 9616
Processor: Pentium 120

Root Device: /dev/hdd
Root Size/partition table: n/a (see below)
Output of lspci and lspci -n: n/a

Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Initial boot worked: [ O]

Reboot: [ ]

Comments/Problems:
The installation failed! I am currently stuck in an endless loop of two
messages. The first one says that there is an error in downloading all the
components. The second message says I'm in a low memory condition, "Entering
low memory mode, will proceed in English, You should try to set up swap
space" there is a <Continue> in red, which, if you push enter (or space) it
takes you to a black screen that says "low memory mode," and then takes you
back to the screen about the low memory condition.

I tried to manually turn swap on (I have a previous debian install from
woody), but the error I got was "Cannot stat device" I don't know how to get
out of this low memory loop problem...I think that the installer runs out of
memory when downloading various packages. I would have thought that the
minimum for a low memory install is 8 MB.

The installer should check for minimum memory first, then error out and refuse
to install, or allow for swap space to be set up first.

     - Add Sylvain Ferriol's lowmem level patch.
     - Modifed to store the level in /var/lib/lowmem. Level 1 is default
lowmem mode, level 2 is super lowmem mode. The file still doesn't exist
       in non-lowmem mode.
     - Documented this.
     - Add error message if the machine doesn't have even the minimum
