Comments/Problems:
- Overall the install was smooth. I have installed Debian on a few
boxes now and this was easy. Nice with the Debian boot logo :)
- When installing the base system one should be able to back, not only
to go forward or quit. First the network did not work due to firewall
settings, and this caused problems. (I did not configure the network
at the initial install.) Maybe you should also be informed that you can
use the escape to another shell with <alt><F?> during the base-config
script run.
- Confusing menus for partitioning the HDD until I found out how it
worked.
- When replacing OSS audio modules with ALSA the old ones are still
loaded on subsequent boots, causing conflicts. Recently I found out
that the cause is the discover package. One should perhaps be informed
in some way (maybe during base-install) that in order to avoid loading
modules found at install time, you should edit the /etc/discover
file. This is a third way to load modules, in addition to the
/etc/modules and /etc/modules.conf files and was new for me.
Install logs and other status info is available in
/var/log/debian-installer/.

Hi,
first and foremost: thank you for your bug report.
I'm currently processing old installation reports, and since you
had some comments about the debian installer back in April, I thought I
wanted to state that - as you may already know - so much has changed
and improved since April so I will close this report, since you in=20
general had a successful installation.
Also, it would certainly be very much appreciated, if you could find
time to download and test the latest[1] cd image and comment on any new
problems with the installer you might come across.
Thank you very much for your time.
