Comments/Problems:

Using expert mode tried to install 2.6 kernel. Variously.

Tried 2.6.4-1.i686 which downloaded but there were problems loading pcmcia
modules for this kernel version. This is a PC not inn need of PCMCIA.

Rebooted. tried to install 2.6.4-1.i386. Seemed to work except that it just
decided to download/install 2.4.24 instead.

Chose normal install. Chose to just boot to base system, not choosing extra
packages during install. At root prompt ran
apt-get install kde

Went off and did its stuff including downloading xfree86 but nothing
configured. Rather than attempting to configure. Running install again using
tasksel desktop environment. This completed successfully and workstation very
pleasant.

Summary : Switching from defaults in install seems to break it. I particularly
wanted to install 2.6.x kernel

Thanks for a great distribution

Richard

Thank you very much for your feedback. Sorry about the acpi, but it is=20
very different from laptop to laptop. Hopefully, if we ship with a=20
newer 2.6 kernel in the final Sarge release, it will work for you. I'll=20
close this report now.

Thanks,
