Unless you tried to load cd-drivers.img or net-drivers.img, this may be normal if he tried to see them after mounting root.img. (At least that was true for TC1 version.) You need to load several udeb packages to have kernel modules such as ide-detect etc. This is current short coming of floppy root.img. This makes impossible to enable swap very early in install process.
