Yes, that's right. On my brand new iBook it offered the LVM menues,
but always complained that it would not work. Switching to a text
console allowed me set up a LVM by hand, which then was promptly
recognized by the installer and I was able to install into my LVs. But
unfortunately the installer "forgot" to install the lvm-tools into the
newly created Debian system, leaving me without /var and /usr. I had
to use the old "swap"-trick (A mini-install into /swap, get lvm-tools,
start lvm, chroot into real root, apt-get install lvm10, set up boot
loader to real root, reboot).
And yes, so far my lvm on my ibook works fine as well, both under 2.4
as well as under 2.6 (with device mapper) and (but only in 2.4 yet)
with cryptoloop (but not the stock kernel ones).
