No luck. It does fine with ide-detection, then you have to retry a few times
to get the CD-Rom properly detected, then it hangs while trying to configure
the network interface with DHCP. If you drop a new network card in a PCI
slot, it doesn't hang but it also doesn't get an IP address.
It's definitely a problem with recent 2.4 and 2.6 kernels. It works fine with
a 2.2 or an early 2.4 kernel. If you want to reassign this bug rather than
closing it, feel free. I've more or less given up on this machine.
The work-around I've used is to install from Debian Woody with a 2.2 kernel
then upgrade to Sid/Sarge and keep the 2.2 kernel.
