Method: I booted with the "expert26 linux-install/framebuffer=false" I used
the latest "official beta4 110 MB CD image. MD5SUM:
52a66d5290a43e17dd0216467962bfc9  sarge-i386-netinst.iso

Machine: VMWARE 4.0.5 wich runing on a woody
Processor: P4 2GHz
Memory: 160 MB
Root Device: SCSI
Root Size/partition table: 256 MB swap on part1, 4 GB ext3 as a / on part2

Comments/Problems:

When the installer tryed to install the debootsrtap package in the "Install
base system phase" it failed with: debootstrap program exited with an error
(return value 1).

Subprocess pre-installation script killed by signal (segmentation fault).

Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/base-files_3.0.14_i386.deb
/var/cache/apt/archives/base-passwd_3.5.7_i386.deb

This is a bug in vmware. Apparently you need vmware version 4.5 to
support linux 2.6.
