Adaptec RAID 2120s and Debian Woody install

Hi,

As much as I have gathered installing Debian is not so straight forward on
systems whit Adaptec 2120s RAID controller.

One either needs to install Debian first at IDE drive and from there compile a
new kernel with support to this RAID controller and after that copy
everything to raid and boot. (Simplified version) This is somewhat ugly way..
atleast I think so.

I have gathered some information and I think that its possible to create your
own netinst image right? With kernel that supports my RAID controller? But I
cant find anykind of HOWTO for modifying the images so that the kernel could
be changed. Is there such HOWTO or do I really need to install the system
firstly on IDE disk?

Oh why doesn't Adaptec support Debian, now when Red Hat is ded and buried. :
